Roadie announces Kickstarter for its latest Roadie 4 Automated Tuning Peg Tuner - and I'm fully invested!
Roadie TunerTunersUtility

I’ve been a huge fan of Roadie Automatic Guitar Tuners since I got back into guitar in 2016 - following the deaths of my idols Bowie and Prince. The Roadie 1 quickly became my tuner of choice early days - and just a year later for me there was the even better Roadie 2. I really like the pistol grip of the first two Roadie editions - kind of reminiscent of mini drills in a way. The ergonomics of the Roadie 2 is pretty spot on - while it could of course do with a better, bigger, and more detailed screen.
So when the stubby Roadie 3 came out with its shorter fatter grip and lack of scroll wheel - which feature I enjoyed so much on the Roadie 2 - where I was therefore somewhat disappointed with the smaller follow-up.
Admittedly the ’3’ has a bigger and better screen - but the ergonomics of it didn’t fully appeal to me for whatever reason - and so I continued to use my Roadie 2 - which is still my choice up until writing this - where I’ve already participated in the Roadie 4 Kickstarter - where you can get one of the forthcoming units (due September) for just $109 plus $25 shipping. Its a no-brainer for me - as the new edition sees a slightly longer more egomaniacally enhanced format with even bigger and more detailed screen - and sees the return of the scroll wheel that I like so much on the Roadie 2 unit.
For me it’s exactly the right move - it is the best tuning experience you can buy - quick and efficient - and continued to get better and more accurate every time - with more isolation from unwanted external noise.
The screen real estate looks killer now - the ergonomics have been sorted - and if you’e on the Kikcstarter you can get a unit for $109. I was at Rainger FX this afternoon - so missed on the earliest and early bird discounts - which were priced at $89 and $99. I don’t mind paying $109 - it still seems like a bargain to me. Considering the Roadie 3 is now $129 - I would have been happy to go as high as that for the new one - but it wasn’t even that - here below are the dimensions of the 4 varieties to date (not including the Bass Tuner), all you need to know really is that each subsequent versions gets more features and better traciking, more fidelity - and I feel they have got the format just right for this V4 edition. Part of my would still quite have liked a pistol grip edition - but I can appreciate the benefits of the new format - and overall I’m very satisfied with it. Here below follow all the details you need.
