This is an interesting move by Carl Martin - who are well known for their real Spring Tank Reverb HeadRoom Pedal. That original HeadRoom is obviously a fairly sizeable proposition - in being a stand-alone Spring Tank.
Instead of making a smaller Spring Tank - like say Anasounds did for its Jack White La Grotte collaboration - Carl Martin have instead made a more compact Digitally Emulated take on that effect.
The new HeadRoom Mini has 2 sets of Reverb, Tone and Decay controls - so you can switch between 2 different Reverb Settings - A and B.
Controls - A } Reverb, Tone, Decay, B } Reverb, Tone, Decay, FOOTSWITCHES } Bypass/On, Select A/B.
It’s a smart enough device in a mid-size 1590BB style enclosure - while there are a lot of DSP Spring style Reverbs out there already. Part of me can’t help but think that customers for this sort of device might prefer a genuine spring tank pedal - like the ones made by Anasounds, Crazy Tube Circuits, Danelectro, and Spaceman Effects.
The Carl Marin HeadRoom Mini can be yours for €279 / $279, which is somewhat oddly the same price as the larger original HeadRoom True Spring Tank Edition.
The newer device gives you more versatility and more range than the original true spring tank version - very closely modelled on the spring version - for more compact and robust deployment.
