It’s interesting that EQD has only just recently discontinued another of its Tone Benders - the MKIII style Park Fuzz Sound - which was discontinued as of the 16th of this month. Funnily the limited edition EQD Black Ash Fuzz which I own - was also a MKIII Bender variant. I still thought I should get the Park Fuzz Sound for a sense of completion, while I probably prefer to be picking up a MKII on this occasion!
I actually already have a Mini 2 Knob Tone Bender MKII - courtesy of the Lovepedal Bone Tender. And it reminds me that Dave ’Pickdropper’ Friesema owes me a Mini MKII Bender - since late 2020. I picked up several of his mini wonder pedals in that year (2020) - including the Professional MKI, Professional MKIII, and Hive Mind (Buzzaround) all Germanium Tone Bender variants. I got Dave to commit to making a MKII variety for me also - which I’m pretty sure he agreed to - but I chased him up for several months - and said variant never materialised for whatever reason - so I did not manage to complete the full sweep of Mini Benders! Perhaps it’s time I checked in with Dave once more!
The Friesema Fuzzes are 3 knob and 4 knob varieties - which I prefer (they each have an external bias knob) - I would ideally like the same setup for the MKII as is on the Friesema MKIII pedal - namely 4 knobs - for Fuzz, Level, Bias, and Tone!
My Lovepedal Bone Tender works pretty well with just 2 knobs - so that’s surely going to be very similar to this EQD Barrows.
The Barrows Fuzz Attacker (TB MKIII) goes for just $129 in the USA, and will be £139 when it lands in the UK - at Andertons, GuitarGuitar etc. Which should be the same day as this article goes live.
You can read up more about the 3 x Germanium Transistor Barrows Fuzz Attacked on the EarthQuaker Devices Website - I for one am always interested to find out which transistors have been used here!
The number of desirable pedals that has been released in the last few weeks is rather immense - and I want, nay need too many of them.
This Barrows is definitely on the cards - while as always the monthly budget has long since been blown - so I need to wait until payday rolls around again - which is not too far off!
