So a collaboration between Fuzz Imp’s Justus Gash, and Cue The Sun’s Wyatt and Ben.
The original Boss HM-2 has just 4 controls - Level, Lows, Highs, and Distortion, where Justus has further added a Dry Blend knob, a Gating / Clipping switch for more Tightness, and a Mids Shift Switch which adjusts the Mid Range Focus for an entirely different tone.
Controls - Loud, Dry Blend, Gain, Bass, High, Gate : HM-2 / Tighter, Voice : HM-2 / Mids-Shift.
Meaning you get a more potent and more versatile Chainsaw / Death Metal Distortion. It sounds beautifully textured in the demos - with a killer bark to the core voicing.
Readers will know I’m a big fan of the HM-2 style of distortion and have quite the collection of those already. While this new Furia genuinely seems to be adding something new and different to that scene - and is a worthy candidate to be added into that capsule collection.
I love pedals which have different gears to elevate and level up your sound. Both the switches give you take you well beyond the core HM-2 tones. Generally those switches are stock HM-2 to the left, and add something more when you flip them to the right - singularly and in combination.
And the Dry Blend give you means to better balanced the output of the pedal - and very much expands the pedal’s utility - especially for Bass and Baritone players. It’s all very simple and elegant - very much delivering an evolved and improved HM-2!
I still need to get in the Fuzz Imp Creature and Adventure Superfuzz pedals at the very least - and so with the Furia I mow have 3 Fuzz Imps on my target list. I just need for Justus to give me some sort of deal on those 3 - and it’s game-on then for those hands-on reviews.
The Furia Chainsaw Distortion is yours for just $169.99 courtesy of the Fuzz Imp Webstore.
I’m determined to get involved here! It’s surely only a matter of time!
