As always Vitalii has made his own cool modifications here - which include those very attractive light blue vintage Polish Miflex Caps.
Controls - Balance, Voice, Fuzz.
Vitalli describes his version as :
"The Bucha Square Wave is based on Univox Square Wave Fuzz. Notably used during the In Utero sessions by Kurt Cobain. It’s quite an aggressive fuzz with an interesting circuit that combines JFET with Silicon transistors."
"I renamed the control that was called ’Distortion’ in the original - to Voice, as it’s a tone stack essentially. Also I added a real gain control (Fuzz) and additional gain recovery stage after the tone stack as the Univox unit barely reached unity at max level."
"Instead Germanium diodes I used Germanium transistors for clipping (NOS Polish ASY33S). The JFET is a SMD J201 (MMBFJ201) as the THD version is not produced anymore. For BJT gain stage and gain recovery I used NOS Motorola BC546B."
There will be 40 units up for sale as and when this article goes live - at 18:00 CET time. They’re priced at $150 and available from the Drunk Beaver Rocks Webstore.
As a rapid prototyping project - there’s no time for demos - so the sound sample reference below is the one that most closely matches this particular take.
