Spaceman Effects unleashes affordable Cadet Series - made with SMT Circuit Components, and a screen-printed raw enclosure

On the visual I’ve listed the new super affordable Cadet Series prices, which are indeed very attractive - while I already own 2 out of 3 of those originals, and have long since decided that I didn’t really need the Saturn VI, But I guess you can never say never!

Of the 3, the Saturn VI (2019) was launched first as one of the earliest ’Standard’ Series editions - that was priced then @ $179 vs $159 now, while the discounts are much more significant for the Delta II (2021) @ $229 vs $179 now, and the Explorer (2022) @ $279 vs $179 now - making the Explorer the smart choice to get I guess. I’m a huge fan of my original Explorer and Delta II.

If I remember correctly - the Sputnik III delivered the first ’Standard’ circuit - with a hybrid makeup of both SMT and THT parts, while the limited edition was all THT - I included a visual at the time to show the differences between the Standard and Limited circuits - where they both shared all the full size sound-generating components - including the Soviet Germanium Transistors.

There have been raw versions of Spaceman Pedal Enclosures before - and if you’re not aware of the originals - then you probably won’t miss those engraved facia plates - which I’ve always felt were a quality touch.  In any case Spaceman has managed to significantly economise the creation and build of these new devices - which deliver the more wallet-friendly price point. I would have no issues in acquiring any of these. There are already myriad superb sounding devices out there running entirely off SMT arrays. You obviously cannot do vintage effects in this same manner as Germanium Diodes and Transistors are not available as SMT variants.

I believe the core mission with the Cadet Series is to empower almost everyone to be able to get a Spaceman Effect - at a wallet-friendly price they can afford. The economic challenges for most Pedal Brands these days are tough - and this is great step forwards helping Spaceman Effects thrive well into the new age.
