A This Heavy Earth pedal has been on the cards for a while - as one of the key high gain distortion brands. I’ve known about them for a few years now - but there are so many high gain pedals in the Heavy Earth Range - that I really struggled to make a decision on which of those would be the perfect jumping off point for me!

In one of the reviews I read that the Flesh Rot V2 had more than a hint of flavour from the Diezel Herbert - which just happens to be the signature amp of one of my all-time favourite guitarists - one Ian Crichton of the Canadian Prog Rock Band Saga. He has always had this beautifully tight searing, sort of lyrical singing lead tone, and incredibly percussive rhythm tone.

And I’m getting all those signature Ian Crichton tones out of the Flesh Rot V2. It’s easy to dial in - and that an expansive range of sounds onboard (considering that this is mostly a Death Metal style Distortion) - and therefore is also an amazing Diezel Herbert sounding weapons grade high gain distortion.

It really sounds fantastic to me - and very quickly has become one of my favourite all-time high gain distortions. It’s currently on the board alongside the Solar Chug Lite, and Fortin Meshuggah - both of which are wonderful tight and potent high gain distortions too. All 3 are amazing - while each has a distinct character. I’m delighted that I’m getting my favorutes Ian Crichton sounds through a pedal. I didn’t feel as good about the actual Diezel Herbert pedal (which of course I’ve had since it first came out) - this Flesh Rot V2 is rather every-way fantastic.

Controls - High, Mid±, Low, Level, Shift (Mids Frequency), Gain, Presence, Tight.

This is such a well balanced and well calibrated device. It effortlessly delivers killer tones. And I was instantly wowed as soon as I kicked this one on!

It’s taken a while to arrive from the USA, it totally slipped my mind that my friend Andy Ebsen at Effect Boutique stocks these also - and I could have acquired one of these from out of his stock! In any case it is a wholly killer device for me!

My current preferred setting are - Hi, Mid±, and Low all at 3 o’clock, Shift @ 9 o’c, Level, Gain, and Presence all on 2 o’c, and Tight @ 9 o’c.

The Flesh Rot V2 is currently available direct from the www.effekt-boutique.de/this-heavy-earth-1.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">This Heavy Earth Webstore for $199, and from Effekt Boutique in Germany - where it goes for €269

There are some amazing modern high gain pedals out there - and this is most definitely another top tier example - highly recommended!
