So I initially published an article on February 20th - where I gathered together 9 pedals which all had the same Hot Pink Colourway. It was originally inspired by the launch of Great Easter FX Co’s Obsolete Devices OD201 Preamp - so the article was a nod to that.
At the time of posting I had 2 of those in my possession - I guess you could say 3 - as I owned the Lightspeed too already - but not in that colourway - as you will have noted in subsequent references.
So this was mainly done for my friend at Guitar Nerds - Joe and Matt - who favour hat particular hue of pedal. While was able to get a number of those very opportunistically - and so lo and behold - as the end of this month I now have most of those - which mostly occurred somewhat haphazardly.
It just so happened that a couple of recent arrivals also fit that format - and so the recent Drunk Beaver Super-Fuzz got added, as did the Farmer Factory Horny 66 Germanium Fuzz Face.
The selection of 9 is now slightly different - and all of those are in the reference collection now - every single one of those sounds really great. So an initially fairly random selection of Hot Pink Pedals - turned into its own section in my reference collection!
The updated selection consists of the following :
Things often fall into unusual patterns - as happened here - there hadn’t been any particular intention to fully favour the Hot Pink Colourway - but it kind of happened anyway - and I’m really happy about it!
The lowest cost for one of these was the £45 I paid for the Foxgear Muffin - which I found really surprisingly good - it’s a truly great sounding Ram’s Head Muff. Each one of these turned out to be pretty special - and a large number of these are on the board at the end of this month!
The two most recent arrivals being the Drunk Beaver Volnovakha Super Fuzz and Farmer Factory Horny 66 Germanium Fuzz Face (#104 Fuzz Face for me!). For those who read my London Synth and Pedal Expo Show Report - I of course picked up the very last Great Eastern OC201 - which my good friend David had kindly set aside for me!
Thee’s noting better than a net positive surprise event - which this Hot Pink selection kind of turned out to be - there was no major rhyme or reason employed - it mostly just happened kind of naturally - and of course very opportunistically! Further details below of course! :

Controls - Level, Drive, Bass, Contour (Mids), Treble.
The sound of 80's Neon Nights on the Sunset Strip - a cool singing lead-line distortion.
All the current demos of this pedal are every way wrong! This is designed for those Neon 80's Lead Lines - none of the demos really feature this as it should be!
Controls - [R] Gain Structure : 1 | 2 | 3, Level, Attack, Bias.
One of the very best Germanium Fuzz Faces out there - with extra range and granularity. Has a wonderfully rich and complex harmonic output.
Controls - Balance (Volume), Tone, Scoop, Expander (Fuzz Amount).
Vitalii's superior take on a Super-Fuzz - this one sounds particularly lively with a superb extended range output. Compared to the recent Shaftesbury Dup Fuzz - the Volnovakha is bigger, bolder and more vibrant sounding - it's as Super-Fuzzes were always meant to be - a quite superb example of that genre!
No demo exists yet - so have used actual Super-Fuzz demo for sound sample purposes.
Controls - Fuzz, Level.
My copy of this only landed very recently - actually I picked mine up at the recent London Synth and Pedal Expo - where David had set aside the last one of that line for me. It has the most beautifully textured harmonic breakup - and delivers extraordinary fuzzy-drive sounds in particular!
Controls - Loudness, Drive, Frequency.
Actually a really cool and unique take on the Timmy Overdrive - one of the most loved Low Gain Overdrives. This is the only one I don't have in that Hot Pink Colourway - having inserted a white / blue stripe edition indicated. I considered adding a pink one too - but could not justify getting a straight duplicate when I have so many pedals still on my acquisitions / wishlist.
Controls - Filter, Gain / Sustain, Volume.
I was a little surprised how good this Ram's Head Fuzz was - it has a lovely sear on it - with well balanced gain and output profile. And considering I got this pedal for just £45 - an absolute bargain. I love it when budget pedals sound this good!
Controls - Volume, Fuzz, Bass, Treble, Oscillate Footswitch, Bypass Footswitch.
Glorious sounding Oscillating Shoegaze Fuzz. There's plenty of verve and output here - a really potent shoegazer which does everything you need to - sound amazing with it to - particularly the full on oscillation mode!
Controls - Volume, Tone, Drive
Slightly fatter sounding Klone - James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) uses it to recreate Ernie Isley 'Summer Breeze' Tones - as will I! Yup - this one does the trick - for that lovely smooth and sustaining fat lyrical tone!
Controls - Bass, Contour, Treble, Volume Gain.
Really like this one too - a somewhat more refined Marshall Shredmaster - with somewhat smoother tone - sounds quite distinct from my other Shredmasters / Marshall types. Really a somewhat smooth and refined - but nicely sustaining take on that timbre and tonality!
