The last time I covered Andy’s Rig - he was rocking the Neunaber Immerse Reverb - so presumably that has been knocked off the board - by this Nocturne.
You have two rather conventional Modes - Plate, and Spring Reverb - finely honed by Robert over the years. And then we have a unique Nocturne Reverb voicing - which is derived from Andy’s Halo Echo - and reimagined as an ethereal, immersive Reverb.
The controls are pretty conventional as for the other pedals in the ’Core’ series - where some of the knobs have secondary parameters / functions.
Controls - Tone [HPF], Reverb Mode [Hold : Alt] Mode : Nocturne (Halo) | Spring | Plate, Decay [Pre-Delay], Modulation, On/Off Footswitch, Preset Footswitch.
’Preset’ on the right-hand Footswitch is in the singular, while in the text I’ve been provided with it refers to ’Presets’ but doesn’t say how many - presumably connected with Mode LED x 4 display - so presumably either 4 or 8 onboard preset, or else that is a typo and we only have it in the singular. There are gaps in the details I have been provided with for whatever reason.
I own the special edition Halo Dual Echo Light Bending Edition - and am very familiar with that delay - and indeed have recreated that on a number od other pedals - including the Boss SDE-3000.
Keeley are really pushing out the boat for the mid-size Core editions with those RCA Bakelite knobs - so many of the recent pedals have come in that format - while I almost always prefer the more compact edition.
For me the Core Editions are slightly stripped down, and have a signficanly larger footprint. I guess those are doing really well - so Rober continues to roll out new pedals in that very 90’s style format, but with 60’s style knobs!
I don’t mind this format - but I would much rather have this pedal in the compact enclosure.
The Andy Timmons Nocturne Reverb can be yours for just $399 and equivalent (€399 / £319) via the Keeley FX Webstore - and imminently a leading international dealers!
However good this is, I don’t think it’s quite good enough to unseat my Cornerstone Nucleo. Not sure a Nocturne Reverb is on the cards for me - I think the next Reverb to drop in on the Nucleo slot will be the Hotone Verbera - we will see how much I fancy the Nocturne once the Verbera has had a fare shake!
Will be interesting to see which of Andy’s pedals will be replaced by further future Keeley Models! There’s still quite a few to go!
