So hitherto I’ve used my full size and also pico format Attack Decay pedals - for delivering cello-like swells - albeit I believe the AD is monophonic - while this new sweller Swello - is fully polyphonic - and uses the Envelope Effect from the POG 2.
Generally you have a Slow Gear style note bloom / swell device - with some additional controls - and including a 3-position Low Pass Filter push-button.
Controls - 3-way Filter Button : GREEN is Disabled / AMBER is Low Resonance, RED is High Resonance, Volume is Output Level, Attack Time, Frequency (Low Pass Cutoff Frequency), Mod -/+ (Range and Direction of the Attack Envelope applied to the LPF).
I currently have the pico Attack Decay on the board - but this more impressive take on what I like will surely bump that one aside. The violin and cello -like tones in the demo sound superb. I also like to do that Jónsi from Sigur Rós thing - which this should be perfect for too.
I couldn’t be more excited about a mini effect - this one really seems to mail that bowed string tone - and has just the right complement of controls to get everything out of the device you need. It’s a winner for me for sure!
The Pico Swello is yours for just $150 on the EHX Webstore - and is a definite must-have for me - one for next month for sure!
I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on one. Andertons currently doesn’t have it in stock - and there is no reference to incoming stock - so it will probably be a while before it reaches these shores. For some reason EHX and MXR always seem to de-prioritise Europe / UK! It makes no sense really when so many US brands are able to coordinate simultaneous releases - and 2 of the biggest pedal builders cannot!
