This is an interesting analog fuzz with glitchy frequency divider modulation - which delivers some uniquely textured outputs. It makes a series of cool noises - where you will need to decide how much mileage you get out of those tones and textures. The fuzz can of course be deployed independently too.
The combined output is far from a conventional Fuzz Sound - and I suppose something of an acquired taste. I quite like it, while I’ve yet to decide how suitable this pedal is for my own playing sensibilities - and how much I would actually use this device. The demos remind me a little of those PLL style pedals, including the Fjord Fuzz Lillebjørn from a couple of years ago.
Controls - FUZZ } Level (Output), Hi EQ, Lo EQ, Gate (Pre-Gain Fuzz), Clean (Clean Level), Bypass Footswitch, MODULATION } Depth (of Modulation), Voice : Ring-Mod / Crude Frequency Modulation / Pitch Track Instability, Divisor (Modulation Rate), Divide Footswitch (Frequency Division).
Cosmodio is on a roll with its unique and distinct devices - and this seems to be a very worthy sequel to the Pet Yeti and Gravity Well.
The Glitch Witch can be yours for $279 direct from Cosmodio Instruments in the USA, where it’s £289 @ Joe’s Pedals in the UK, and €329 @ Effekt Boutique in Germany.
For me it’s definitely sort of PLL adjacent - where if you’re into that genre of effect, I throughly recommend the Tark Audio Squid Ink - which is my favourite PLL take to date!
