This is a fantastic departure from Klowra’s usual DSP roots. Here we have their first entirely analog all-THT components circuit - and it sounds absolutely killer! In one of the pictures below you can see the high quality internals of this pedal - which deliver the most richly harmonically textured Overdrive, Fuzz and Distoriton tones. This pedal is fun for weeks if not months - it has such a high potential. And is one of the most versatile multi-gain pedals of all time - alongside my long-term...
This is such a smart pedal - it took me a while to figure out all the controls and their impact - but it’s mostly second nature now. I had to do a lot of experimentation for it all to slot into place for me. Klowra’s Jinbo was very helpful in getting me to understand the interplay between the main variable playback head - and the further fixed relative playback heads - which you can dial in and out of action or accentuate - by using the [Spawn], Heads Volume, [Groove] and [Sum-Invert] ...
The Klowra Verdict definitely sits within POG territory - but with a much broader set of features and functions - including 2 variations of Freeze and Ramp Hold effects on the Footswitch.
Along with numerous shaping elements to get even more out of those octaves. Including Low Pass Filter and Attack and Release speeds.
This is a very finely honed high-fidelity device that performs superbly however you configure those settings. ...
In many ways this is the most straightforward category with singular award nominees - GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE.
It’s the second smallest category after Distortions - and the one where I own the least number of pedals in proportion to the whole - just 10 out of these 26.
The order pretty much set itself - with the Cornerstone Nucleo being the clear winner from the start. I’m so impressed with every aspect of that pedal - it’s a perfect Trifecta of Design, Feaures and Playability - pretty ...
This has turned out to be the largest category for 2025 with 38 pedals in this selection. As I favour those pedals that I own first, and then the more pedalboard-friendly editions - inevitably there would be some casualties for the year. With the most significant of those being the larger format Meris Enzo X, and the Polyend MESS Multi-Effect Step Sequencer. I know there are some who favour each of those - but they just aren’t targets for me personally.
I always talk about having a lane - ...
I own a fairly significant number of Reverb Pedals - where I’m mostly focused on Workstation style Pedals with multiple algorithms. I normally have at least 2 Reverbs on the board - a Primary Multi-Verb, and a Secondary more Specialist Verb. Occasionally I have a 3rd Reverb - which can be another Stereo Secondary, or more likely a Mono Tertiary. In fact I can have as many as 4 Reverbs on the board - as the Eventide H90 is always there too!
You can see from my various Pedal-Chain posts that ...
So for the Klowra Vein we actually have 16 Intervals (Up or Down), with the 17th Mode being Unity / Root. As described in the title its output is full Microtonal Stereo [MISO] - at a really high degree of fidelity - where this is the dearest of the Klowra pedals - with a $20 premium over the other 3, where the Vein is at $149 versus the $129 of the others. Which is a little odd for me - as overall within this collection - the Pitch-Shifter will likely have the least demand. I guess therefore ...
The third in the Bloom Infinity Series - the Sprout 9-Mode Modulation - delivers all the essential modulations (+ Ring Mod!), featuring most of the usual suspects - 2 styles of Chorus, Vibe (Uni-), Flanger, Envelope Filter, Phaser, Rotary and Tremolo - with the somewhat acquired-taste Ring Mod appropriately at the end.
2 of my favourite Modulation types are the Roland / Boss Dimension, and the Harmonic Tremolo (esp. JAM Pedals Harmonious Monk) - neither of which appears here. You do have a ...
So, in a similar fashion to the Limbo I just recently reviewed - I have a default flavour that I fall back to most of the time - which is of course Tape - and handily the first on the dial. And then at the other end you have the more unusual and otherworldly flavours - including Granule, Crystal, Sweeper and Mod. It also has the great sounding Reverse and Swell Algorithms - a really well rounded set of algorithms for sure - with all the obvious ones in the mix really.
I’ve had to update ...
As promised - here is the first of the Klowra Bloom Infinity Series Deep Dive Reviews. I pretty much declared this Limbo Reverb a winner from first encounter. This one sounds really great - and gives you the perfect balanced of algorithms including all of the classics - and 2 really unique ones - the Cloudy / Floaty ’Hazy’ one, and the gentle sea-shore swishing ’Tide’ those 2 are worth the price of admission alone.
All the more vanilla algorithms are present - Hall, Church, Room, Spring, ...
