NOTE that these were originally supposed to be in stock last week - on the 20th, then today on the 26th - but are still not in stock somehow - I’ve no idea what’s going on here - this article has been ready for over a week now - and frankly I have other things to be getting on with - so I’m just making it live now (with a change to the title) and moving on with other projects.
Andertons has been somewhat unusually lax of late with its ’coming into stock’ notices - I’ve pre-ordered several pedals now that were due to come into stock at a certain date, but then failed to materialise for a week or two. Andertons used to be very reliable, and communicative on that score - but it’s as if they’ve let their quality of service lapse a little. They used to inform you when pedals were late coming into stock, but for whatever reasons they don’t always seem to do that for every pedal. I understand Pete Honoré has been poorly for a while, and there’s a backlog of videos to be done now - so possibly it’s related to that, while the lapses in communication seem very out of character for Andertons - I know the gear industry is struggling these days - but surely quality of service should be maintained?
Correction! - I’ve just had a notification about the late arrival of my Keeley Manis - which is slightly odd as other UK retailers have had them in stock - like Juno.co.uk - no such notification arrived for my late EQD Rancho de la Luna Dirt Transmitter - which arrived several days after it was initially supposed to. So possibly the lapses are somewhat intermittent / random - while Andertons who used to be first to get pedals into stock, now seem to be lagging behind a lot more than hey used to - possibly it’s a larger operation with a somewhat slower tuning circle, and less agility than some of the others. I’ve supported Andertons for many years now - and they’ve mostly been very good to me! So I will of course continue to give them a chance!
Much like yesterday’s Browne Amplification Ethane - these above 12 pedals have been listed on Andertons’ New Pedal Pages for months - and still somehow not come into stock! If you go to the Barber Electronics Site you will see 13 current editions, where Andertons is set to stock 12 of those - featuring just the black standard Tone Press and not its optional Blue sibling!
So while there are 12 pedals featured above - these are different editions of just 8 circuits - mostly overdrives, plus an EQ, Fuzz, and Parallel Compressor.
I only own the Gain Changer to date - which is excellent of course - I long debated the merits of the Direct Drive vs the Gain Changer, but went with the latter as a first step. I don’t feel the need to add another EQ or Compressor. While the other 5 here are definitely targets for me.
This means I still have the Direct Drive, Exacta Fuzz, BUSS Burn Unit Super Sport - Regular and High Gain, and the Plus to get. In fact I will probably just go for the Blue High Gain BUSS - which means 4 remain to be acquired - I just need to decide which one I go for next - likely the BUSS High Gain or Exacta Fuzz! They obviously need to come into stock first!
Here is the full 8-circuit selection [colour editions in parenthesis] :
These are all really smart circuit designs - while I wish the Toggle switches had some sort of labels assigned - even abbreviations would do. If you have a number of these pedals it’s tricky to remember what does what without referring to a manual!
Individual details below as usual :

Controls - Left Mids Switch : Neutral / Full & Fat / Clear & Strong, Right Gain Switch : Higher Gain / Ultra Dynamic / Low Gain, Volume, Tone, Drive.
The fourth iteration of this circuit - which combines Direct Drive Low Gain (LG) and Super Sport overdrives into the one circuit - very much a British voiced pedal - covering GZ34 and EL34 voicings - sort of JTM45 and Plexi therefore.
Controls - Left EQ Switch : Flat (thick mids) / Jumbo Bender Enhanced Lows and Highs / Triangle sounds Scooped Mids, Right Sludge Switch : Deep & Woolly / Low-cut Clear & Sweet / Vocal sound, Volume, Tone, Fuzz.
An intriguing combination of Tone Bender and Big Muff flavours - where the 2 toggle-switches set the style of fuzz for you - and you then have the classic 3-knob layout to shape the output. This is a really handy fuzz - and definitely a target for me!
Controls - Left Voicing Switch : Super Sport / Burn Unit, Right Harmonics & Dynamics : Squish Low Dynamics / High Harmonics / Low Soft Harmonics, Volume, Tone, Drive.
This collaboration with Five Watt World combines the Burn Unit (Dumble) and Super Sport circuits - the latter of which also featured on the Direct Drive. As a huge fan of Dumble Drives - this is a must have have for me - while I tend to like the slightly more searing end of Dumble - so it's likely the below Blue High Gain Edition that will be the one I get.
Controls - Left Voicing Switch : Super Sport / Burn Unit, Right High Harmonics and Ultra Dynamics Switch : High Harmonics / Ultra Dynamics, Volume, Tone, Drive.
This is the High Gain edition of the BUSS - which comes in the Blue livery I tend to prefer some gain extension - so this will be my first target. I'm not sure I need both versions of the BUSS - I will see where I'm at once I've tried this one!
Controls - Left Bass Switch - Least Bass / Most Bass / Moderate Bass, Right Filter Switch : Least Highs / Most Open & Dynamic / In-between first 2, Level, Tone, Gain.
This is the other Five Watt World collaboration - which is billed as a kind of Klon-killer. So for sure another target for me!
Controls - Left EQ Switch : Flat & Fat / Thick Mids / Flat EQ, Right Gain Switch : Medium-High Unlimited / Low Gain Limited, Volume, Tone, Gain.
This pedal combines 2 versions of this circuit - the Ltd and Unlimited Editions - which have different gain ranges. This is the one Barber Electronics Pedal already in the collection - I think I've had this one for about 3 years or so! I sounds fantastic!
Controls - Left Contour Switch : Classic Vintage EQ & Growl / Presence / Reduced Mids, Right Input Filtering Switch : Full Deep Response / Tight Mode / Bright Input, Volume, Treble, Bass.
A smart EQ pedal where the 2 toggle switches do a lot of the shaping. This is an elegant EQ, but can't really compete with with my Empress ParaEQ 2 Deluxe.
Controls - Left Speed Switch : Fast / Classic Response, Right Brilliance Switch : Normal Flat EQ / Bright, Volume, Blend, Sustain.
This is a well loved Parallel Compressor - once more a really smart circuit, while I'm already very well covered for Compressors, and this one is not currently on my remaining target list.
